In order to implement the spirit of the Opinions of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council on Comprehensively Strengthening Labor Education in Colleges and Schools in the New Era and to build an education system that comprehensively cultivates morality, intelligence, body, aesthetics and labor, Jiangsu Province recently issued the Opinions on Comprehensively Strengthening Labor Education in Colleges and Schools in the New Era.
According to the Opinions, schools should earnestly undertake the main responsibility of labor education, specify the implementing institutions and personnel, overall plan and optimize the curriculum, and open all labor education courses. The average weekly labor education class in primary schools shall not be less than 1 class hour, the average weekly labor education class in junior high schools shall not be less than 1 class hour, and the average weekly labor education class shall not be less than 6 compulsory credits in ordinary high schools. Vocational colleges should integrate labor education into the professional curriculum system, and the compulsory course of labor education should be no less than 16 class hours.
In order to carry out labor activities in combination with disciplines and specialties, ordinary institutions of higher learning should incorporate labor education into the program of professional personnel training, and make it clear that it should mainly rely on courses, among which the compulsory course of labor special education in undergraduate stage should not be less than 32 credit hours. At the same time, it has formulated standards for monitoring and evaluating labor education, supported local governments in building digital monitoring platforms, carried out process monitoring and evaluation, and regularly released monitoring reports on students’ labor literacy. We will explore the implementation of the credit system for labor education and formulate measures for the recognition, accumulation and conversion of labor education credits. The labor quality should be brought into the comprehensive quality evaluation system of students, which should be regarded as an important reference or basis for students’ evaluation of excellence and graduation.
Parents should be taught by words and deeds in daily life, imperceptibly, according to the characteristics of the age group, to guide their children to undertake housework as far as possible. Encourage children to use weekends or holidays to participate in labor, ensure that primary and secondary school students weekly family work time is not less than 2 hours, each year targeted to learn 1 to 2 life skills, so that children from an early age to love the habit of labor, in the work to accept the exercise, temper the will, harvest happiness.
